About the Teen and Parent Advisory Board
The UW LEAH Teen and Parent Advisory Board (TPAB) helps us improve adolescent healthcare by advising the LEAH Fellowship program about important topics in adolescent health. TPAB members meet every other month and provide valuable input to the program through activities such as curriculum review, trainee interviews, and contributions to LEAH seminars and leadership projects.
Advisory Board members work in partnership with LEAH faculty, staff and fellows and act as ambassadors of the LEAH program in their community. The Board meets virtually once every other month in the evening.
TPAB members have the opportunity to:
- Collaborate with healthcare providers
- Gain valuable leadership experience
- Earn community service hours
- Educate health providers about the teen experience
- Create and develop projects related to improving teen healthcare
- Discuss topics such as:
- Mental health and stress
- Substance use and abuse
- Healthy lifestyles
- Sexual and reproductive health
- Confidentiality and your rights
